A dental bridge is a prosthesis used to replace or more missing teeth. A tooth bridge involves the teeth adjacent to the gap of the missing teeth and replacing them to fix the gap which was left after their removal. This tooth bridge is fixed in the mouth by permanent cement so there is no hassle of cleaning and they are as comfortable as your natural teeth.

The sole purpose of a dental bridge is to replace one or multiple missing teeth. A fixed bridge bridges the gaps left in the mouth post-extraction and mimics the shape, size and colour of your natural teeth.
A tooth bridge unites your entire dentition into one functional unit by fixing the gaps left by lost tooth due to extensive decay, fracture or injury.

A dental bridge is a prosthesis that replaces the gaps of missing teeth with artificial teeth. This tooth bridge is fixed in the mouth with permanent cement. A fixed bridge is only an option when the gap of the missing teeth has a tooth in front as well as behind it. Because the dentist takes the support of these teeth to replace the missing teeth. The dentist will perform a crown cutting procedure on the adjacent teeth. An impression of the preparation is then sent to a dental laboratory for fabrication. The bridge which comes back looks exactly like your natural teeth along with a replacement of the missing tooth. This bridge is then cemented in your mouth with permanent cement. A dental bridge for your front teeth is a little complex since support is taken from more than just 2 teeth next to the missing gap. Ideally, we make a front teeth bridge from the left canine all the way to the right canine. The resulting bridge is not only replacing your missing teeth but also correcting any minor flaws or imperfections of your supporting teeth regarding their shape, size or color.
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth which provide multiple benefits:
The first important step is to evaluate the teeth adjacent to the gap with digital x-rays to confirm their load-bearing capacity. This is done by measuring the crown root ratio. Local anesthesia is administered in the area of treatment to make the patient more comfortable. The adjacent teeth are reduced by 1.5 to 2mm on all sides and impressions are made to record the margins of the preparations. This impression is sent to a dental laboratory where a bridge is custom fabricated according to the shape, size and colour of the patient’s natural teeth. This bridge is then tried to check the fit and bite levelling and fixed with permanent cement. This entire process takes 4-5 days to finish. A temporary acrylic bridge is given fixed with temporary cement in the interim period while the bridge is being made in the lab. When the permanent bridge is ready, the temporary bridge is removed and the teeth are thoroughly cleaned with pumice and alcohol to remove any residue of the temporary cement.
The cost of a dental bridge varies from one dentist to the other. Dental bridges come in a variety of materials such as stainless steel, the metal bridge with a ceramic facing, full ceramic or zirconia. A tooth bridge cost varies according to the material chosen. Also, a dentist will add the cost of his labour, materials, temporary bridge and dental lab fees to the final amount. Charges for procedures performed like extraction of the damaged tooth, fillings or root canal if needed by the adjacent supporting teeth are also added. So getting fixed bridges done in Mumbai can be a little expensive. Some patients are covered by dental insurance provided by the MNCs they work for so that works out great. For the others, this treatment is a little heavy on the pocket.
There is a type of bridge that is supported by only one tooth on one side. This is called a cantilever bridge. Cantilever bridges are very rarely recommended by dentists since they cause an imbalance of forces and the supporting tooth almost always gets compromised. A cantilever dental bridge can cost a little more than a regular bridge. If given a choice, choose a dental implant rather than a cantilever bridge since they cost almost the same.
Very agile hands, didn't feel a thing. The most pain-free root canal in my life.
